In the morning, you will visit the Yuantong Temple and immerse yourself in the rich atmosphere of the intermingling of three Buddhist sects.
Afterwards, we will drive 85 kilometres to the Stone Forest, known as the "essence of the world's karst landscapes". Listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, the spectacular stone peaks covering 12 square kilometres of land are a breathtaking sight to behold. Taking a sightseeing bus, we will go deep into the Boulder Forest Scenic Area, as if entering a labyrinth of giant boulders.
Next, we will continue by bus to the Little Stone Forest. Here you will have the opportunity to see the iconic stone "Ashima" up close. This realistic boulder looks like a graceful young lady standing quietly in the wilderness.
As the sightseeing bus slowly pulls away from the scenic area, we will end this wonderful day's journey. You will then be transferred to the airport or railway station for your flight or train to your next destination to continue your travelling adventure. This journey will surely leave you with unforgettable memories.

Yes, entry to both Yuantong Temple and the Stone Forest is covered. The sightseeing bus that takes you through the Greater and Lesser Stone Forest is also included. You won't pay anything extra for these core parts of the day.
Since we check out in the morning, can our luggage stay in the car during the day?
Absolutely. Your luggage can stay in the private car from morning until drop-off. The driver will keep it safe while you visit Yuantong Temple and the Stone Forest, so you don't have to worry about bags at all.
How much walking is there inside the Stone Forest? Is it suitable for older family members?
The Stone Forest involves walking on paved paths and some uneven stone steps. Most of the route is manageable, but there are a few steep sections. If anyone has mobility concerns, your guide can adapt the route and choose flatter paths. The sightseeing bus also reduces the walking distance.
What's the weather like in Kunming? What should we wear?
Kunming is known as the "Spring City" for its mild weather year-round, but mornings and evenings can be cool. A light jacket and comfortable walking shoes are ideal. We'll send a specific forecast and packing tip a week before your trip.
Is Yuantong Temple still worth visiting if we're not Buddhists?
Definitely. Even for non-Buddhists, the temple's architecture, peaceful courtyard, and the mix of three Buddhist traditions make it a serene cultural stop. It's a great introduction to Kunming before heading out to the Stone Forest.
Do we need to bring anything special for the Stone Forest, like sunscreen or insect repellent?
