Q & A

How high is Shangri-La, and should I be worried about altitude sickness?
Shangri-La sits at about 3,300 meters (10,800 feet). Most visitors feel mild effects like shortness of breath or a headache, but serious sickness is uncommon. To minimize risk, take it easy for the first 48 hours—no strenuous activity, no hot showers, drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol. Your 5-star hotel can likely provide oxygen if needed.
Will there be an English-speaking guide throughout the trip?
Yes—the tour includes English-speaking guides at key destinations. However, it's "partially guided," meaning you won't have a single tour leader for the entire 12 days; instead, you'll have expert local guides in each city.
Can I use my credit card, or do I need cash?
China is largely cashless. Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay and link your international card before you travel—these work almost everywhere. Keep a small amount of RMB cash as backup for smaller vendors, tips, or street food.
