After breakfast, we will take the high-speed train to Hangzhou. You will check in to your hotel and have a short rest before departing for West Lake.

The West Lake is a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its tranquility and beauty. It is surrounded by scenic hills and dotted with temples, pagodas, and gardens. Your tour of the West Lake will begin with a leisurely 45-minute cruise during which you can enjoy serene views of the lake, ancient pagodas, and lush gardens.

In the morning, you will visit Feilai Peak, also known as the "Faraway Flying Peak". According to legend, this peak was flown to China from India on a mission to spread Buddhism.

We will continue to visit the neighboring Lingyin Temple, which is one of the oldest and most famous Buddhist temples in China. The temple houses a large collection of Buddhist scriptures, statues, and artifacts.

In the afternoon, you will head to Meijiawu Tea Village, where you can choose to participate in activities such as tea picking and tea tasting.

Q & A

What should I pack for Hangzhou's weather?
Plan for changeable, humid conditions and pack layers. Hangzhou is mild in spring and autumn but sticky in summer and chilly and damp in winter, so a light waterproof jacket is useful in most seasons. I have watched guests shiver on the lakeside in April wearing only a t-shirt. Comfortable, non-slip shoes are essential — the stone lanes of Xitang and the paths of Feilai Peak get slick in the rain. An umbrella in a backpack is a good idea almost year-round.
Is two days really enough, or will we feel rushed?
It is a practical, well-paced two days, not a sightseeing sprint. In over a decade guiding first-timers, I have seen this exact route work smoothly: a relaxed lake cruise and temple morning in Hangzhou, tea time in the hills, then an overnight in Xitang. The one thing I would flag is that the ground is generous — comfortable shoes matter more than extra time. If you are someone who prefers slow mornings, tell us in advance and we will adjust the order.
Should I walk or take the rowing boat in Xitang?
Do both if you can — they answer different questions about the town. Walking lets you study the Ming and Qing architecture, the snaking lanes, and the everyday life that gives Xitang its "living ancient town" feel. A quiet rowing boat shows you the bridges and waterfront from the water, which is where the Jiangnan charm really lands. On a 2-day trip, I usually suggest walking first, then a short boat ride at dusk when the lanterns come on. Both are worth it, but they are not the same experience.
How does transport work — is everything handled for me?
Yes, this is a fully private, door-to-door trip. We pick you up, move you between Hangzhou and Xitang in a comfortable private car with a driver, and transfer you back to the airport or train station at the end. The high-speed rail section is arranged and included, so you will not be deciphering timetables or navigating platforms alone. It is a genuine end-to-end service: I have seen the difference it makes for first-time visitors who simply want to relax and take it in.
What kind of hotel will we stay in, and what is included?
You stay in a comfortable 4-star hotel, and breakfast is included. Meals beyond breakfast are not part of the package, so we can stop wherever you like along the way. If you need an extra bed for a child, that is usually possible at an additional charge — just let us know when booking. Upgrading or downgrading the hotel tier is also something we can arrange; I can share options and prices before you decide, so the choice stays yours.
