Continuing on to the White Elephant House, this residential complex surrounded by the spectacle of the light rail running through the building is a perfect example of the fusion of modernity and antiquity, which makes people stop and look up, marveling at the unique magical charm of the mountain city. Immediately after that, step into the Huguang Guild Hall, the antique architectural complex tells the epic of immigration from Huguang to Sichuan, and every brick and tile carries a heavy historical memory.

What exactly is the Sutra Pavilion? Can we go inside, or is it just a photo stop from outside?
The Sutra Pavilion is a small, quiet Buddhist scripture library tucked among old trees. It's usually open to visitors who are respectful—you can step inside for a moment of calm. If it's closed for a private prayer session, your guide will still tell you its story from the outside. Either way, it adds a lovely Zen pause to the walk.
Is the White Elephant House still a residential building? Will we disturb the people living there?
Yes, it's an actual residential complex famous for the light rail passing through. We'll view it from the public pedestrian street and designated viewing spots, so we won't enter private areas or disturb residents. Your guide will show you the best angles without invading anyone's privacy.
At Shancheng Alley and White Elephant Street, can we buy snacks or souvenirs? Do we need cash?
Both streets have small local shops selling snacks and handicrafts. Most places accept mobile payments, but if you don't have WeChat or Alipay, some cash is handy. Your guide can help with translation and recommend honest vendors.
Does the hotel breakfast cater to specific diets, like gluten-free or vegan?
The hotel breakfast buffet usually has a mix of Chinese and Western options. For specific diets, we can request special items in advance. While not all small hotels can do fully gluten-free, they'll try their best. Tell us at booking, and we'll communicate your needs.
Can we tip the guide and driver? What is the customary amount?

After the tour, can you drop us at a specific restaurant for dinner instead of the hotel?
Of course. If you'd like to go straight to a dinner spot after Hongyadong, just tell the guide. We'll drive you there and help you get a table if needed, then the car can wait or you can make your own way back.
