After breakfast, we will reach the Tiananmen Square, one of the largest city squares in the world. Standing in the North Square, you can look up at the Tiananmen Tower, where Chairman Mao proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Passing through Tiananmen Square, you will step into the Forbidden City, which is the largest and best-preserved palace in the world. Once the imperial palace of the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. It is a reflection of the highest architecture level in ancient China.
Next, you will visit the Temple of Heaven, a sacred site used in ancient times to worship the heavens and offer prayers for a bountiful harvest. Nowadays, it has become a lively place where locals perform traditional activities such as Tai Chi, dancing, kite flying and calligraphy. Stroll among the halls of the Temple of Heaven and feel the solemnity and mystery of ancient royalty.
After that, we will make a short trip to Jingshan Park, where you will have a panoramic view of the entire Forbidden City.
Next, we will visit the Hutongs and take a rickshaw ride through Beijing's hutongs. These alleys, made up of courtyards, epitomize life in old Beijing.

This day covers the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Jingshan and the hutongs. How much walking should I expect?
It's a walking-oriented day, but a manageable one. The Forbidden City itself is the longest stretch — about two to three hours on foot through its courtyards — while the Temple of Heaven, Jingshan and the hutongs each add a shorter, gentler walk. In total, expect a comfortable but active day, so wear your most comfortable shoes. Our private car moves you between the stops, and we'll pause whenever you need a rest. Most travelers find it pleasantly full rather than exhausting.
What should I not miss at the Temple of Heaven, and when is the best time to visit?
Don't miss the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests — the iconic circular hall with its deep blue roof — and the Echo Wall, where sound carries across the courtyard. The park is also home to lively local life: in the mornings you'll see residents practicing Tai Chi, dancing, flying kites and writing calligraphy with water on the stone paths. Arriving in the morning is ideal, when the park is at its most alive and the light is soft on the halls.
We take a rickshaw ride through the hutongs. What will I see, and is it worth it?
The rickshaw ride is a lovely way to see old Beijing. You'll roll through narrow lanes lined with siheyuan — traditional courtyard homes — past quiet gates, ancient trees and the everyday life of the neighborhood. It's a gentle, atmospheric way to experience a side of the city the big sights can't show you. The ride is typically about 30 to 40 minutes with stops, and your guide will share the stories behind the lanes and courtyards as you go.
