Jinggang Ancient Town

Jinggang Ancient Town

Jinggang Ancient Town, nestled along the Xiang River in Hunan Province, is a time-honored waterfront settlement renowned for its Ming- and Qing-dynasty architecture, cobblestone streets, and preserved cultural heritage. Founded over 1,000 years ago, it thrived as a bustling hub for salt trade and folk crafts, earning the nickname “Little Suzhou of Central China.” Today, it offers visitors a serene escape into traditional Chinese life, with ancient residences, temples, and riverside vistas blending harmoniously with modern cultural experiences. Designated a National Historical and Cultural Town, Jinggang remains a living museum of China’s past.

Historical Overview
Jinggang’s history dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907 CE), though its golden age occurred during the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1912) dynasties, when it became a critical node on the Xiang River trade route. Merchants transported salt, tea, and silk through its waterways, fostering prosperity reflected in its grand mansions and temples. The town survived wars and floods, with restoration efforts in the 20th century preserving its heritage. In 2011, it was listed as a National Historical and Cultural Town, cementing its status as a cultural gem.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
