Preparation before departure: Embark on a dream journey

Before departure, I did a lot of homework. Through sharing on travel forums and social media platforms, I learned that there are many filming locations for "Black Myth: Wukong" in Shanxi, such as Xiaoxitian and Hanging Temple. Considering the travel time and season, I chose to go in spring, when the climate is pleasant and the scenery is most charming. I applied for my Visa in advance, booked my flight and accommodation, and also checked the local prices and attraction ticket information, making sufficient budget planning for this trip. In order to better integrate into local life, I also learned some simple Chinese greetings, hoping to communicate with the locals.

Morning: Xixian Xiaoxitian - The graceful and melodious Tiangong Pavilion

In the morning, I arrived at Xiaoxitian in Xixian County, Linfen, Shanxi with excitement. This is the filming location for the famous scene of "Seeing the Future, Why Not Worship" in the game. When I stepped into Xiaoxi Tian, it felt like I had entered a dreamlike world. The layered palaces and towers of the Heavenly Palace are faintly visible in the mist and clouds, while the buildings adorned with colorful makeup resemble the graceful and ethereal Heavenly Palace.

Xiaoxitian (Thousand Buddha Temple) was built in the second year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty. There are thousands of painted sculptures in the the Shakya ManiHall, known as the "swan song of the hanging sculpture art". These colorful sculptures are exquisitely shaped, with different expressions, and each one seems to be telling an ancient story. I slowly climbed up the narrow staircase, each step as if stepping into the long river of history. Standing in front of the Mahavira Hall, I was shocked by the scene in front of me. Thousands of painted sculptures were lifelike, as if telling an ancient legend. I picked up the camera and kept pressing the shutter button, wanting to capture every exciting moment. Here, I feel as if I have traveled through time and space, perfectly overlapping with the scenes in the game, and experiencing the mystery and fantasy.

Noon: Taste local cuisine and feel the smoke and fire atmosphere

After visiting Xiaoxitian, it was already noon. I came to a nearby specialty restaurant to taste local cuisine. Shanxi cuisine is famous for its rich tastes and unique cooking methods. I ordered a Daoxiao Noodles and a Pingyao beef. The Daoxiao Noodles are chewy, and the soup is rich and delicious. It is delicious with fresh beef and green vegetables. Pingyao beef has fresh and tender meat, a rich and mellow taste, and emits a faint aroma. Every bite makes me feel the charm of Shanxi cuisine. During the process of tasting delicious food, I also had simple conversations with the locals, and their warm and hospitable attitude made me feel the warmth of home.

Afternoon: Exploring the Hanging Temple - Wonders Between the Cliffs and Cliffs

In the afternoon, I went to the Hanging Temple located in Hunyuan County, Datong. As the prototype for the suspended wall architecture in the game, the Hanging Temple was first built in the late Northern Wei Dynasty, more than 1500 years ago. It is a unique temple that combines Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. It is known for its steepness like facing an abyss, with a site selection, peculiar architecture, and ingenious structure that are unparalleled in the world. It is known as the slang "Hanging Temple, half a day high, with three ponytails hanging in the air".

As I stepped onto the steps of the Hanging Temple, a sense of awe surged in my heart. The temple buildings have stood tall among the cliffs for thousands of years, enduring the baptism of wind and rain but still remaining as strong as ever. I slowly walked along the narrow passage, admiring the exquisite Buddha statues and murals, and feeling the wisdom and skills of ancient craftsmen. Here, I seem to have engaged in a dialogue with history that transcends time and space, gaining a deeper understanding of China's ancient architectural culture.

Evening: Yungang Grottoes - a stunning treasure trove of art

In the evening, I arrived at Yungang Grottoes. As one of the four major grotto art treasures in China, Yungang Grottoes is located at the southern foot of Wuzhou Mountain, 17 kilometers west of Datong City, Shanxi Province. Here, a large number of exquisite Buddhist statues and murals are preserved, making it an important treasure trove for studying ancient Chinese Buddhist art and historical culture.

Entering the Yungang Grottoes, I was shocked by the scene before my eyes. The huge Buddha statues are solemn and dignified, exquisitely carved, and each one seems to be telling an ancient story. I slowly walked along the passage of the grotto, carefully observing every detail and feeling the exquisite craftsmanship and devout heart of ancient craftsmen. Under the afterglow of the sunset, the outline of the grottoes became even more mysterious and solemn. I felt as if I was in an artistic palace, and my soul was greatly shaken and baptized.

Night: Reflections and Prospects

When night fell, I ended my magical journey of the day. Sitting on the return bus, I reminisced about the bits and pieces of this day, and my heart was filled with emotion. The suspended sculpture art of Xiao Xitian, the steep architecture of the Hanging Temple, and the exquisite statues of the Yungang Grottoes have all made me feel the charm and cultural heritage of ancient Chinese architecture.

This "Xian Trip" fantastic one-day trip not only fulfilled my dream of exploring the filming location of "Black Myth: Wukong", but also gave me a deeper understanding of China's historical culture and ancient architectural art. I believe that this trip will become an unforgettable memory in my life and make me love this charming land even more. In the future, I look forward to stepping on this land again and exploring more unknown beauty and wonders.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
