Travel Through Guizhou: The Best Ways to Navigate the City

In Guizhou, the best ways to get around include using public transportation, ride-hailing apps, taxis, local tours, and walking/cycling, depending on whether you're in the urban capital Guiyang or exploring remote villages.

Guizhou, a province known for its picturesque landscapes and Ethnic Diversity, offers a variety of ways to navigate its urban and rural areas. Whether you’re in the bustling capital, Guiyang, or exploring remote mountain villages, here are the best ways to get around:

1. Public Transportation (Bus and Subway):

In Guiyang, the province's capital, buses are a cost-effective and accessible mode of Transportation. The city’s bus network covers most of the urban area, but it can get crowded during peak hours. For a more convenient and faster option, the Guiyang subway system is modern and easy to navigate, with English signage in key stations. Public buses and the subway both accept transportation cards, which can be topped up for seamless travel.

2. Ride-Hailing Apps:

For ease of travel and flexibility, ride-hailing services like Didi Chuxing are highly recommended. Didi is available in most of Guizhou’s cities and provides a reliable, convenient alternative to taxis. The app is available in English, which helps foreign tourists avoid language barriers. It’s a great option for traveling between major tourist destinations or when public transport isn't available.

3. Taxis:

Taxis are a reliable mode of transportation, especially when traveling to less accessible areas. Taxis in Guizhou have a reasonable starting fare and increase according to distance. Though not all taxi drivers may speak English, a translation app or the address written in Chinese can be very helpful.

4. Local Tours and Shuttles:

For those visiting rural areas or specific scenic spots, local tours and shuttle buses can offer a convenient option. Many popular tourist destinations like Huangguoshu Waterfall or the villages of the Miao and Dong people offer guided tours that include transportation.

5. Walking and Cycling:

In smaller towns and scenic areas, walking or renting a bike is often the best way to explore. Guiyang and other tourist spots offer bike-sharing programs that allow you to rent bikes for short trips, offering an eco-friendly and flexible way to discover local attractions. With these options, navigating Guizhou can be both easy and enjoyable, ensuring that you make the most of your trip through this beautiful province.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
