  • Arrive in Zhangjiajie, check in, and enjoy leisure time exploring the dazzling 72-Strange Building complex
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: None

Welcome to Zhangjiajie, home to the towering pillars that inspired the floating mountains of Avatar. After your transfer to the hotel, take it easy or head straight to the 72-Strange Building (Qishi Qilou) – a jaw‑dropping, multi‑level wooden structure lit up like a fairy lantern at night. Wander through its maze of stilted houses, sample local street snacks (try the spicy stinky tofu or sweet rice wine), and snap photos of the cascading “water curtain” that flows over the building's facade. It's a playful, Instagram‑worthy taste of Tujia culture without any rush.

  • Arrive in Zhangjiajie, check in, and enjoy leisure time exploring the dazzling 72-Strange Building complex
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: Breakfast

Today you'll face the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge – suspended 300 meters above the Grand Canyon. The transparent floor reveals a dizzying drop, but the surrounding emerald peaks and waterfalls will steal your breath for the right reasons.
Optional add‑ons (pay on site):

  • Via ferrata – clip onto steel cables and climb the canyon wall.

  • Cable car – glide across the canyon for a bird's‑eye view.

  • Bungee jump – leap off the bridge for the ultimate free‑fall thrill (one of the highest bungees in the world).

Afterwards, chill out with a bowl of local “Grand Canyon cold noodles” sold by vendors near the exit – a perfect spicy‑sour reward.

  • Step into Pandora, ride the world's tallest outdoor elevator, and marvel at the “Emperor of the Peaks”
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: Breakfast

Enter Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, where quartz‑sandstone pillars rise like ancient skyscrapers. Your first stop is the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain (Southern Sky Column) – the actual inspiration for the floating rocks in the movie.

Then zip up the Bailong Elevator (White Dragon Elevator), a glass lift bolted to a cliff face. In just 90 seconds, you rocket 326 meters to the top, where a 360° view of the “Avatar world” unfolds.

Finish at Tianzi Mountain, known as the “Monarch of the Peaks.” From its viewing platforms, you'll see a sea of stone spires shrouded in mist – like a traditional Chinese ink painting come alive.

Local tip: Buy a bamboo‑steamed corn cake from a Tujia granny at the mountaintop – it's warm, slightly sweet, and the perfect snack for the hike down.

  • Conquer the “Stairway to Heaven,” walk a cliff‑edge glass walkway, then unwind in a waterfall village
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: Breakfast

Start early at Tianmen Mountain. Take the world's longest cable car ride (over 7 km) from downtown Zhangjiajie straight to the summit. Walk the Glass Walkway – a narrow path bolted to a vertical cliff – then climb the 999 steps to Tianmen Cave (Heaven's Gateway), a natural hole in the mountain that looks like a portal to the sky.

After descending, drive (approx. 2 hours) to Furong Ancient Town – “Hibiscus Town.” This 2,000‑year‑old Tujia settlement sits beside a dramatic waterfall that plunges right through the town.

Check into your hotel and spend the evening wandering lantern‑lit alleys, listening to the roar of the waterfall, and trying the town's signature rice tofu (soft, chewy, and served with chili oil).

  • Wake up to a waterfall view, soak in the old‑town atmosphere one last time, then head home
  • Hotel: None
  • Meals: Breakfast

Enjoy a slow morning in Furong Ancient Town. Walk behind the waterfall (there's a path that lets you feel the spray), explore the Tujia stilt houses, and buy hand‑woven brocade souvenirs from local artisans.

Before you leave, grab a sticky rice cake wrapped in bamboo leaves – it's the town's traditional travel snack.
Transfer to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport or train station for your onward journey.
