Today is dedicated to the mesmerizing patterns of the Wave Valley (Jingbian Danxia Landform) . This is a newer discovery on the world travel map but rivals the famous "Wave" formation in Arizona/Utah in its surreal beauty.

Experience Highlight: The terrain here is a visual feast of layered red sandstone that looks as though it has been poured like cake batter and frozen mid-swirl. Walk along the ridges of the Flame Danxia and the Water Danxia sections. The texture is surprisingly firm yet fragile—a reminder that you are walking on ancient seabeds. We’ve timed this visit to allow you to wander at your own pace along the wooden walkways. Watch how the color shifts from rusty orange to deep burgundy as clouds pass overhead. This is the crescendo of your journey. We cross briefly to the Shanxi side of Hukou Waterfall, widely recognized as the superior vantage point for experiencing the full force of the Yellow River. While the Shaanxi side offers a side view, the Shanxi side places you directly at the bottom of the cauldron.
