This park is one of Tibet's historical sites and served as the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, earning the nickname "The Summer Palace of Tibet." With the guidance of your tour guide, you will explore the palaces and gardens within Norbulingka, where you can admire the unique Tibetan architectural style and landscaping. After lunch, head to Drepung Monastery, one of the four major monasteries of Tibet and also one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the world. Located on the western outskirts of Lhasa, Drepung Monastery is one of the birthplaces of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.
Accompanied by a guide, you will visit the monastery's main hall, the monk residences, and admire the Buddha statues and murals inside, gaining an in-depth understanding of the history and culture of Tibetan Buddhism. Drepung Monastery has a rich history and cultural heritage, making it an ideal place to explore Tibetan religious life.

The architecture and murals of Potala Palace are treasures of Tibetan culture, and the visit will take approximately 2-3 hours.

Lhasa sits at about 3,650 meters. How do I handle the altitude, and why is day one for rest?
Altitude is the one thing to respect in Lhasa, and we've built your trip around it. Day one is deliberately set aside for rest and acclimatization — rest well, drink water, and take it easy. On the following days, move slowly, stay hydrated, and avoid rushing. If you feel symptoms, tell your guide immediately; we'll adjust the pace and, if needed, arrange for oxygen or a quiet rest. Most travelers feel comfortable with this gentle approach.
When is the best time to visit Lhasa, and how should I pack for the high altitude?
The best seasons are late spring to early autumn (roughly May–October), when the weather is milder and the skies are clear. Even in summer, Lhasa's altitude brings strong sun and cool evenings, while winter is cold and drier. Pack warm layers, a heavy jacket for the cool nights, a hat, sunglasses and high-SPF sunscreen, plus comfortable walking shoes. The dry air calls for lip balm and moisturizer. We'll send a season-specific packing note with your confirmation.
What should I expect at the Potala Palace, and is it physically demanding?
The Potala Palace is the very symbol of Lhasa, and the visit takes about two to three hours. There are a fair number of steps and gradual climbs through the palace halls, so take them slowly and rest as needed — especially at altitude. Your guide will lead you through the main halls, Buddha halls and treasure rooms, sharing the history behind the architecture and murals. It's a deeply rewarding experience, and we'll pace it to your comfort.
We visit several temples and monasteries. What etiquette should I follow, and are photos allowed?
A few gentle gestures make the visit respectful in these living religious sites. Wear modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, remove hats when entering halls, keep your voice low, and walk clockwise around the pilgrimage sites. Photography is usually not permitted inside the prayer halls to protect the ancient murals and statues, so we'll let you know where photos are welcome (the courtyards are often fine). Your guide will guide you at each stop.
