Q & A

Day one in Shenzhen is packed with several attractions before we head to Shantou. Is the pace well balanced?
Yes, day one is a full but well-sequenced day in Shenzhen — the museum in the morning, the Ping An observatory and Splendid China through the afternoon, and a relaxed sunset at Shenzhen Bay Park. The high-speed train to Shantou the next day gives you a comfortable change of pace, and Shantou unfolds at a gentler, more historical rhythm. If day one feels fuller than you'd like, we can trim a stop or linger longer — just tell your guide.
What can I expect at Splendid China Folk Village, and is it worth the afternoon?
Splendid China gives you a wonderful snapshot of the whole country in one place. You'll walk past miniature versions of 82 iconic landmarks — from the Great Wall to the Terracotta Warriors — and then experience living culture with performers from 27 ethnic groups, with traditional dance, music, artisan crafts and festival celebrations. It's absorbing for all ages, and photo-worthy throughout. We'll time your visit so you can catch the key performances and still have a relaxed evening.
When is the best time for this Shenzhen–Shantou route, and how should I pack?
Spring and autumn (roughly March–May and September–November) are the most comfortable in both cities, with mild weather and clearer skies. Shenzhen and Shantou have a warm, humid subtropical climate — summers are hot with frequent rain and an eye on typhoon season, while winters are mild and pleasant. Pack light, breathable clothing, a light rain jacket or umbrella, comfortable walking shoes, and sunscreen. We'll send a season-specific packing note with your confirmation.
Shantou is famous for its food. What should I try, and do you accommodate dietary needs?
Shantou's Chaoshan cuisine is a real highlight. The must-try is the Chaoshan-style beef hotpot — thinly sliced fresh beef cooked in a clear broth — along with the oyster omelet, glutinous rice cakes and rice noodle rolls. Breakfast is included at your hotel each morning, and we'll be glad to recommend good local restaurants for the other meals. Let us know in advance if anyone in your party is vegetarian, follows a halal diet, or has a food allergy, and we'll make sure the kitchens are informed.
Are the entrance tickets to the attractions included?
Yes, admission to the listed attractions — including the Shenzhen Museum, the Ping An Finance Centre observatory, Splendid China Folk Village and the sites in Shantou — is included in your package, so there are no surprise charges at the gate. Your high-speed rail tickets, private transfers and local guides are also part of the tour. The only optional extras are personal things like snacks, souvenirs, or any activities you choose to add, and we'll confirm any cost with you before charging.
