  • Morning drive to Xiling Snow Mountain – Stop at Xinchang Ancient Town – Evening check-in to hot spring hotel and a relaxing hot spring bath
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, travel west to Xiling Snow Mountain, a stunning winter paradise. En route, visit Xinchang Ancient Town – a quiet, less-touristed gem with old wooden architecture, stone-paved streets, and locals drying preserved meats. Wander like a time traveler and taste a bowl of local bean curd jelly.
Arrive at your hot spring hotel nestled at the foot of the snowy mountain. As night falls, slip into the open-air hot springs – imagine soaking in steaming mineral water while snowflakes drift down around you. Pure bliss!

  • Full morning of skiing and snow play at Xiling Snow Mountain – Afternoon scenic drive to Leshan city
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: Breakfast

Gear up for a thrilling morning on the slopes! Xiling Snow Mountain offers ski runs for all levels – from beginners gliding on bunny hills to more adventurous skiers carving down longer trails. No skiing experience? No problem – try a snow tube or build a snowman. The mountain views are breathtaking, with fresh white powder covering pine forests.
After lunch (on your own), drive to Leshan (approx. 2 hours). Check into your hotel and enjoy a free evening. Perhaps sample Leshan’s famous Bo Bo Ji (cold skewers with spicy sauce) – a local delight.

  • Morning visit to Leshan Giant Buddha – climb up and down for close-up views – Afternoon drive to Mount Emei, overnight at Baoguo Temple area
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: Breakfast

Today you’ll come face-to-face with the world’s largest stone Buddha – the Leshan Giant Buddha, carved into a cliff over 1,200 years ago. Take the mountain trail that winds around the Buddha’s head, shoulders, and down to his giant feet. You’ll feel tiny next to his serene 71-meter-tall figure, with the roaring river below.
After a local lunch, drive to Mount Emei (about 40 minutes), one of China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains. Settle into your hotel near Baoguo Temple, the largest and oldest temple at the mountain’s base. In the evening, wander the temple grounds and listen to the monks’ evening chants – a peaceful end to the day.

  • Morning ascent to Golden Summit (Jinding) for spectacular winter snow scenery – afternoon drive back to Chengdu
  • Hotel: 4+ star hotels
  • Meals: None

Early morning, take a sightseeing bus and cable car up to Jinding (Golden Summit), the crown of Mount Emei at 3,077 meters. In winter, the entire mountain is a fairyland of snow-draped trees, icy paths, and misty clouds. Visit the gleaming Ten-faced Samantabhadra statue and, if the weather clears, witness the breathtaking “sea of clouds” stretching to the horizon. The combination of sacred Buddhist atmosphere and pure white snow is truly magical.
After descending (and a warm lunch), drive back to Chengdu (approx. 2.5 hours). Check into your hotel and enjoy a final evening – maybe hunt for some spicy hotpot or explore Jinli Ancient Street on your own.

Q & A

Q1: Do I need to book panda base tickets in advance, and do I need my passport?
Yes – you must book online in advance. The base uses a real-name reservation system and on-site ticket windows are generally not available. All foreign visitors must bring their passport for entry – you'll use the "no-ID pass" lane with your passport. The base is open 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (last entry) with two time slots: morning (8:00–12:00) and afternoon (12:00–4:30). Daily capacity is 80,000–85,000 visitors, split between morning and afternoon.
Q2: Is the panda base suitable for visitors with mobility issues?
Yes – the park is wheelchair‑friendly with ramps and good accessibility throughout. Taking the shuttle bus (30 RMB) is recommended to save walking time across the large park.
Q3: When is the ski season at Xiling Snow Mountain?
The winter snow season generally runs from late November to the end of March. The ski area is typically open from December to early March, with operating hours around 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The 2025–2026 snow season closed on March 17, 2026. Always check current conditions before you go, as dates can vary by year.
Q4: What equipment can I rent at Xiling Snow Mountain, and how much does it cost?
You can rent skis, boots, poles, helmets (around 30 RMB), protective gear (around 50 RMB), and ski suits (around 50–100 RMB per day). A deposit of about 500 RMB is required. Ski passes are sold in 2‑hour or full‑day options – full‑day is better value as 2‑hour passes leave little actual skiing time after gear fitting. Ski instructors are available for 200–300 RMB per hour.
