Q & A

Do I need to bring my passport every day, even for attractions like Universal Studios and Pop Mart?
Yes — always carry your physical passport. Most major attractions in Beijing require it for entry, even if you’ve booked online. At the Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, and the Summer Palace, you’ll need to show it at the gate. At Universal Studios Beijing, your passport is your entry ticket — you scan it at the turnstiles. Pop Mart City Park also requires passport verification. Keep it in a secure but accessible place every day.
Are meals beyond breakfast included? What if I have dietary restrictions?
Breakfast is included daily at your hotel. Lunches are included as specified in the itinerary — check your detailed day-by-day schedule for which meals are covered. For dinners and meals not listed, you’ll have full flexibility to choose your own restaurants. Vegetarian options are widely available in Beijing. For specific allergies or halal requirements, notify the tour operator at booking so your guide can help you navigate local menus and find suitable places.
What’s the tipping etiquette for the guide and driver?
Tipping is not mandatory but is expected and appreciated in China’s private tour industry. For a private 6-day tour, a recommended guideline is **$7–14 USD per day** for the guide and **about half that** for the driver, given as a lump sum at the end of the tour. Some sources suggest $4–8 USD/day for the guide and $2–5 USD/day for the driver. Tips are not included in the tour price — bring cash (RMB or USD) for this purpose.
