Terracotta Warriors and Horses--Da Ci'en Temple--Big Wild Goose Pagoda-Ancient City Wall
We will drive about 40 kilometers to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses. These Terracotta Warriors were built by China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to protect him in the afterlife. Over 8,000 life-size terracotta figurines, horses and chariots were buried underground for over 2,000 years until they were discovered in 1974. Standing in front of these spectacular statues, you will be awed by the ambition of Emperor Qin Shi Huang and the skill of ancient Chinese artisans.
Before visiting the Terracotta Warriors Museum, you will also have the opportunity to experience traditional culture by making a miniature Terracotta Warrior under the guidance of a local potter.
After lunch, we will return to downtown Xi'an and visit the Da Ci'en Temple.
This temple was a famous translation site of Buddhist scriptures during
the Tang Dynasty. The temple has a 64.5-meter-high pagoda, the Big Wild
Goose Pagoda, which was built by the Buddhist master Xuanzang to
preserve the scriptures he brought back from India. If you are interested, you can climb the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (extra charge applies) for a great view of the city. Then we will go to the Ancient City Wall,
which is
the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China. You will pass
through the Hanguang Gate, as if traveling back to the prosperous
scenes on the ancient Silk Road. On the city wall, you can rent a
bicycle (extra charge applies) for a leisurely ride and enjoy the
panoramic view of modern Xi'an.

Is the mini Terracotta Warrior-making experience included in the price?
Yes, the hands-on session with a local potter is included. You'll shape your own miniature warrior to take home. It's a fun, immersive activity before seeing the real pits, and there's no extra charge.
Is bicycle rental on the Ancient City Wall included, and what does it cost?
The rental is optional and paid on-site, about CNY 45 for a single bike and CNY 90 for a tandem (prices may vary). A full loop takes 1.5–2 hours. If you'd rather just stroll a section, that's free and equally charming.
How long does it take to drive to the Terracotta Warriors? Does our private car stay with us all day?
It's about a 1-hour drive each way. Your private car and driver are exclusively yours from morning pickup to evening drop-off, waiting at each stop so you can leave things in the vehicle.
Is the Terracotta Warriors Museum crowded, and when is the best time to go?
We typically arrive in the morning, shortly after opening, to beat the largest crowds. Pit 1 is the busiest; your guide will know the quieter viewing angles. Mid-week visits are better than weekends.
Is an English-speaking guide included for the whole day?
Yes, a professional English-speaking guide will accompany you from start to finish, handling tickets, navigating the sites, and sharing insights. The driver speaks Chinese but your guide bridges all communication.
What should we wear, and are there any temple dress codes?
Comfortable walking shoes are a must. The temple and pagoda area don't have strict dress codes, but modest attire is appreciated. In summer, a hat and sunscreen help on the City Wall. We'll email a detailed weather-specific packing list before your trip.
Can you recommend any special Xi'an snacks near the City Wall or pagoda?
Near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, try roujiamo (meat in flatbread) or liangpi (cold noodles). The Muslim Quarter, a short drive away, is famous for lamb skewers and soup dumplings. Your guide can point out the best stalls.
