Chengdu Sichuan Cuisine Museum & Sanxingdui Ruins

Breakfast

In the morning, take a bus to the Chengdu Sichuan Cuisine Museum, a national-level Grade 3 museum. Here, you can experience the joy of cooking Sichuan dishes yourself and appreciate the beauty of Sichuan-style architecture.

Activities:

1.Appreciating the Ancient (Visiting the Collection Hall): Enjoy a guided tour by an English-speaking guide and explore thousands of cultural relics and books from ancient Shu to modern times. Listen to the stories of Sichuan's culinary history, spanning over a thousand years.

2.Tasting Snacks: Try local delicacies like Sichuan North cold noodles, stone-ground tofu, and Zhong's dumplings. Seasonal snacks change, allowing you to enjoy the surprise of street food, just like the old Chengdu residents did.

3.Sichuan Cuisine Cooking: Put on professional chef's attire and, under the guidance of a renowned chef, prepare three classic Sichuan dishes: Kung Pao Chicken, Panda Dumplings, and Mapo Tofu. The Chief Chef of the Sichuan Cuisine Museum, awarded the title of "Chinese Culinary Master," will personally critique your dishes and present you with a "Sichuan Cuisine Master" certificate.

In the afternoon, take a bus to the Sanxingdui Museum in Chengdu. It is regarded as one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. The site has unearthed a large number of ancient bronze artifacts, golden masks, ivory, and jade items. The unique shapes and exquisite craftsmanship of these relics confirm the extraordinary creativity of the ancient Shu people, as well as their longing to understand the cosmos.

In the evening, return to your hotel to rest and conclude the day's itinerary. If you still have free time, feel free to stroll around Chengdu at night and explore more fun. Recommended Activities:

Q & A

What is the weather like in Chengdu, and what should I pack for this tour?
Chengdu has a mild, humid climate with occasional drizzle year-round. Temperatures range from 5–15°C in winter to 25–32°C in summer. We recommend comfortable walking shoes, light layers, a waterproof jacket or umbrella, and a small daypack. Sunscreen is helpful in summer; a warm coat is essential in winter.
What transportation is provided during this tour?
We provide private, comfortable car/van service with a professional, English-speaking driver for the entire day – including hotel pickup and drop-off in Chengdu, as well as all transfers to the museum, Sanxingdui, and back. You won't need to worry about navigation, parking, or taxis. Our driver knows the best routes to maximize your time.
How physically demanding is this tour? Is it suitable for seniors or children?
The tour involves moderate walking – mainly indoors at both venues, with flat or gently sloped paths. Sanxingdui has some outdoor walking between exhibition halls. Most people, including seniors and children, can manage comfortably. If you have mobility concerns, let us know in advance – we can adjust the pace or arrange wheelchair-friendly routes where available.
What makes Sanxingdui special, and why should I visit it?
Sanxingdui is one of China's most mysterious archaeological discoveries. You'll see extraordinary bronze masks, towering figures, and a golden scepter dating back 3,000+ years – completely unlike anything from other Chinese dynasties. It's a fascinating glimpse into the ancient Shu civilization. Our expert guide will bring the stories behind these artifacts to life.
