Discover Harbin: Tours Within and Around Harbin 2026/2027

Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, is a vibrant metropolis known as "Eastern Moscow" for its unique blend of Russian-influenced architecture and icy winter wonders. As China’s northernmost major city, it offers a captivating mix of frozen landscapes, colonial-era charm, and resilient history.
Historical Landmarks: Harbin’s identity is shaped by its multicultural past. Stroll along Central Avenue, a UNESCO-recognized pedestrian thoroughfare lined with 19th-century Baroque and Art Deco buildings from the city’s days as a Russian settlement. Visit the Saint Sophia Cathedral, a striking Orthodox church-turned-museum, and Sun Island, a riverside park that transforms into a winter wonderland during the Ice and Snow Festival. Explore Zhongyang Street’s bustling markets and Harbin Polar Aquarium, home to Arctic wildlife. Don’t miss the Harbin Railway Station, a blend of Russian and Byzantine styles, or the 731 Victims Memorial, a solemn reminder of World War II atrocities. For panoramic views, climb Long Tower in Stalin Park, where the Songhua River meets icy vistas.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return. Der 3-Tage Familien-Trip nach Harbin im Winter
Meine Tochter ist 4. Sind die Eisskulpturen rutschig für kleine Kinder und gibt es Bereiche auf dem Festival, die für sie gesperrt sind?
Answered by intotravelchina | May 06,2026 14:25
The ice sculptures themselves are not slippery in the way normal ice is, the surfaces are textured. The large ice slides have a minimum age of 7, but toddlers can ride smaller snow slides with a parent. The snow maze and the children's snow play zone are designed specifically for younger kids.

The Harbin family tour is 3 days. What's the walking distance each day like?
My parents are coming and they're fine for an hour or two of walking, but nothing extreme.
Answered by intotravelchina | May 06,2026 10:46
The walking is spread out in short segments. Central Avenue is a flat pedestrian street with benches along the way. Sun Island has a shuttle tram that covers the long distances. The Ice and Snow World has heated rest cabins every few hundred meters. Your guide sets the pace to match the slowest walker.

Answered by intotravelchina | May 06,2026 10:20
The airport is about 40 kilometers from the city center. Our drivers meet all flights regardless of arrival time. The drive to your hotel on Central Avenue takes roughly 50 minutes at night. We track your flight in case of delays, so there's no stress about a late landing.

The ice slides at the festival look amazing
My kids are 5 and 8. The ice slides at the festival look amazing but I need to know the minimum age before they get their hopes up.
Answered by intotravelchina | May 06,2026 10:13
The small ice slides take children from age 4 accompanied by an adult. The large multi-lane slide has a minimum age of 7 and a minimum height of 1.2 meters. Your 8-year-old can ride the big one. Your 5-year-old can do the smaller slides and the snow maze. Staff check height with a marker post at the queue entrance.
Answered by Joel Cheong | May 07,2026 15:06
My son was 6 and rode the small slides ten times while the older one did the big slide. The staff measured the younger one but let him on the medium slide with me sitting behind. No tears, no arguments. The snow maze tired them out more than anything.
