Zhangjiajie, China | It's better to go up the mountain than to work (with lazy version guide)

Let’s be honest— I was definitely tired。so I planed a trip for myself. Here’s my lazy-friendly itinerary for escaping cubicle life and embracing China’s wildest wonderland.

{tour-id-1815617735583219714}

Day 1: Shanghai → Zhangjiajie (Flight + Chill)

9:00 AM: Boarded a 2-hour flight (pro tip: book early for cheap fares!).

11:30 AM: Landed, checked into a Wulingyuan hotel (search “Zhangjiajie budget hotels”—some have hot springs!).

Afternoon: Napped, then wandered Xibu Street for sanxia guo (grilled fish) and street art.

Day 2: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Mountain Mode)

8:00 AM: Entered via Wulingyuan Ticket Station (buy a 4-day pass if you’re lazy like me).

9:00 AM: Took the Bailong Elevator (yes, it’s a glass elevator in a mountain) to the top.

10:00 AM: Hiked the Avatar Trail—prepare for stairs and jaw-dropping views.

1:00 PM: Lunch at Mountain Top Restaurant (overpriced but views = worth it).

3:00 PM: Descended via Golden Whip Stream—monkey sightings guaranteed!

Day 3: Lazy Day in Tianmen Mountain

10:00 AM: Took a taxi to Tianmen Mountain (1-hour drive).

11:00 AM: Rode the cable car (skip the 999 stairs unless you’re a glutton for punishment).

12:00 PM: Walked the Glass Skywalk—my knees shook, but the photos were fire.

2:00 PM: Lunch at Tianmen Restaurant (try tuhao—fried potato with chili!).

Day 4: Zhangjiajie → Shanghai (Souvenirs & Survival)

Search Term You’ll Need: “Zhangjiajie airport shuttle”

zjj3.jpg

Morning: Slept in, then bought Zhangjiajie tea and krill cakes (weird but tasty) at Wulingyuan Market.

1:00 PM: Took a hotel shuttle to the airport.

4:00 PM: Landed in Shanghai, already missing the mountains… and the monkeys.

Pro Tips for Lazy Travelers:

Buy a multi-day park pass—skip lines, save energy.

Taxi apps work in Zhangjiajie (search “Didi Zhangjiajie”).

Pack snacks—park food is pricey and meh.

Zhangjiajie isn’t just a vacation—it’s a reset button. You’ll sweat, swear (at the stairs), and snap 1,000 photos. But hey, at least it’s better than spreadsheets.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
