Chongqing One-Day Trip: Wulong's 3 Essentials
- Tour Code: CT-WL-01-(1)
- Travel Route: Chongqing
- Duration of the trip: 1 Day
- Hotel: None
I've heard Wulong is about 3 hours from Chongqing. Is a one-day trip really enough, or will I spend most of the time on the road?
The drive from Chongqing to the Wulong area takes about 2–2.5 hours each way, so there is a fair amount of travel time. However, the itinerary is designed to make the most of your day: you leave at 7:20 AM, stop at Wujiang Gallery on the way (breaking up the drive), spend about 2 hours at Fairy Mountain, 2 hours at the Three Bridges, and a short stop at Tianfu Posthouse, then head back, arriving at your hotel around 7:00–7:30 PM. So you get about 4–5 hours of actual sightseeing plus the scenic drive itself, which passes through beautiful mountain and river landscapes. Most visitors find the sights worth the drive.
What is Wulong Tiansheng Three Bridges? I've heard it might be connected to a famous movie.
The Three Bridges are a set of three natural stone arch bridges — Tianlong (Heavenly Dragon), Qinglong (Azure Dragon), and Heilong (Black Dragon) — formed by the collapse of a limestone cave system over millions of years. They are massive: the largest spans over 50 meters wide and stands nearly 200 meters high. The site was used as a filming location for Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), as well as the Chinese film Curse of the Golden Flower by Zhang Yimou. Walking through the gorge below the bridges, you look up at these enormous rock spans with waterfalls dripping from above — it's one of those rare places where photos genuinely don't do it justice.
Is this tour suitable for solo travelers? The pickup point is near Jiefangbei — what if my hotel isn't in that area?
Yes, solo travelers are welcome. The pickup point is near Jiefangbei (Liberation Monument) in central Chongqing — this is a central and easily accessible location. If your hotel is not within walking distance of Jiefangbei, you can take a short taxi or metro ride to the pickup point in the morning. Alternatively, contact your tour operator before the tour date — they may be able to arrange a pickup from your hotel for an additional fee, depending on its location. The drop-off at the end of the day will be at the same location near Jiefangbei, so factor that into your evening plans.
