  • Wuzhizhou Island--Houhai Village

After breakfast, transfer to the pier and ferry to Wuzhizhou Island—a butterfly-shaped oasis (1.48 km²) with crystalline waters (visibility: 6-27m). Nestled 2.7km offshore, it faces Nanwan Monkey Island northward and neighbors Yalong Bay ("World's Top Bay") to the south. Its vibrant marine ecosystem thrives with sea cucumbers, lobsters, parrotfish, and tropical fish, while southern reefs preserve pristine coral—making it China’s premier diving site.

Island Highlights:

  • Sunrise Rock: Climb the southeastern cliffs for panoramic views of the island and South China Sea—ideal for dawn vistas.

  • Seaview Boardwalk: Spot crabs on reefs and schools of tropical fish in turquoise shallows.

  • Electric Cart Tour: Circle the island effortlessly.

Thrilling Add-ons (Self-funded):

  • Helicopter tours

  • Wind Tunnel Experience (indoor skydiving)

  • Watersports: Jet skiing, parasailing, banana boats, kayaking, coral reef diving.

A peninsula embraced by Houhai Bay (north), Empress Bay (south), and Haitang Bay (east). Retaining its fishing village charm, you can:

  • Join locals foraging at low tide

  • Buy fresh catches for grill-your-own dinners

  • Surf at Empress Bay—renowned as China's surfing village with year-round waves (best Oct-Apr).

  • Unwind at bonfire-lit beach parties with live music.

Local Bites:
Grilled scallops, pepper-salt crab, bamboo rice, Qingbuliang (coconut milk dessert), claypot chicken congee.

Q & A

Do I need a visa to visit Sanya on Hainan Island?
Hainan has a separate visa-free policy from mainland China. As of 2026, citizens of 86 countries can enter Hainan and stay for up to 30 days without a visa for tourism, business, or family visits. You must enter through one of Hainan’s designated ports—Sanya Phoenix Airport (SYX) is the most convenient. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. If you’re staying longer than 30 days, you’ll need to register with local authorities.
What time does the ferry to Wuzhizhou Island run, and how do I get there?
The ferry operates daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last boat to the island at 4:00 PM and the last return ferry at 5:30 PM. The ride takes about 20 minutes. Arrive early—during peak season, queues can stretch 1–2 hours under the sun. The pier is about a 45-minute drive from central Sanya; your private tour includes transportation, so you don’t need to navigate this yourself.
What should I wear when visiting Nanshan Park?
anshan is a Buddhist cultural site with active temples. Dress modestly—cover your shoulders and knees. Avoid overly revealing clothes inside temple areas. Beyond etiquette, the park is massive with little shade—wear comfortable walking shoes (skip the sandals), bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Arrive before 10:00 AM for cooler weather and fewer crowds.
