Q & A

How does the QR code work at the station? Do I need to collect anything?
Nothing to collect. Your order confirmation contains a QR code for each journey; download or print it, then scan it at the designated gate scanner at your chosen station and walk through. Keep your phone brightness up, and make sure the correct journey QR is on screen. Airport Express stations have staff and clear English signage if anything looks unclear. We send full instructions with your booking confirmation.
I'm not comfortable with phone QR codes. Will I manage at the gate?
Yes. You can print the QR codes from the confirmation email, and printed codes scan just as well as phone screens at the designated gates. Station staff are used to helping travellers, and signs are in English and Chinese. If your phone battery is a worry, print two copies and keep one with your passport. We also send a one-page guide with your tickets so nothing is left to guesswork.
We're traveling with children — do they need their own ticket?
Children under 3 ride free when accompanied by an adult; ages 3 to 11 need a child ticket, usually half the adult fare. If you are buying as a family, tell us each child's age when ordering and we will add the right combination. One practical note: children must also scan their own QR code at the gate, so keep each ticket on a separate phone or printout.
I'll have a lot of luggage. Are there size limits on the train?
The train itself is built for airport luggage, with generous racks, and city-centre stations offer trolleys and porter help. The main limits apply to in-town check-in: bags up to 145 by 100 by 85 centimetres and 32 kilograms. Oversized or overweight pieces must go to the airport counters. If you are unsure about a ski bag or golf clubs, tell us and we will confirm before you travel.
Which station should I choose — Hong Kong, Kowloon or Tsing Yi?
Base it on your hotel, not the name. Hong Kong Station suits Central, Sheung Wan and Wan Chai; Kowloon Station suits Tsim Sha Tsui, Jordan and Mong Kok; Tsing Yi works mainly for the one hotel there. Free hotel shuttle buses connect both city-centre stations to a long list of hotels, so tell us where you are staying and we will pick the right station and shuttle route for you.
