First experience of a fly house: What is a "fly house"?

For foreign friends who hear the term 'fly house' for the first time, it may be a bit 'scary'. In fact, it is a friendly term used by Chengdu people to refer to small restaurants on the streets, usually hidden in old communities or near vegetable markets. The environment is simple but the taste is stunning.

Recommendation 1: Cuihua Old Hot Pot (Yongxing Lane)

Must have: Hand beaten tender beef, cheese fire meatballs

Experience: Driving behind the panda Post Office on Chunxi Road, locals are queuing up to eat! The more the butter pot is cooked, the more fragrant it becomes. It costs 50 yuan per person to support the wall.

1. Leshan Xianzhi Flavored Bowl Chicken (Caotang North Road)

Must order: Spicy/Vine Pepper Bowl Chicken (5 cents per skewer for meat and vegetables)

Experience: You can eat 50 skewers for 30 yuan! Red oil is spicy but not dry, vine pepper is so numbing that it dances on the tip of the tongue, and it pairs perfectly with ice cream powder.

2. Luo Jie bamboo shoots taro chicken (Wangping Street)

Must try: Taro Chicken (crispy bamboo shoots, soft taro)

Experience: Stew in a pressure cooker and soak rice in soup to eat three bowls in a row! Per capita 38 yuan, the king of cost-effectiveness.

3. Huang Huan Sweet and Spicy (Telecom South Street)

Must Have: Sweet or Spicy (wrapped in a special sauce, with a mix of sweet and spicy flavors)

Experience: Handmade ice cream powder is only 5 yuan, a great tool for relieving spiciness! It may be sold out by 8 pm, so it's better to do it early.

4. Agui Chuan Xiang (Tianren North Second Street)

Must Have: Brainstorming Flower (12 yuan/serving)

Experience: Hidden in the old community, locals sit on the Mazza and eat! The brain flower is tender like tofu, and the spicy oil is fragrant to the top.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
