Orange Isle, located in the heart of Changsha, Hunan Province, is a iconic river island and cultural landmark renowned as the birthplace of Mao Zedong’s revolutionary spirit. Formed by the Xiangjiang River’s sediment over millennia, the 91.4-hectare island is celebrated for its lush gardens, historic monuments, and the iconic Mao Zedong Youth Art Sculpture. Designated a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction in 2012, it blends natural beauty with revolutionary history, attracting over 8 million visitors annually. The island’s name derives from its orange groves, which flourish alongside cherry blossoms and willow trees.

Yuelu Mountain, a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve and National AAAAA Tourist Attraction, is a cultural and natural landmark in Changsha, Hunan Province. Rising 300 meters above the Xiangjiang River, it blends lush forests, ancient temples, and historic sites like the 1,000-year-old Yuelu Academy. Revered as the “Cradle of Huxiang Culture,” it has inspired scholars, poets, and revolutionaries for centuries, including Mao Zedong, who composed his poem Changsha here in 1925. Covering 36 square kilometers, the mountain offers 300-plus species of trees, 23 Buddhist and Taoist temples, and panoramic views of Changsha’s skyline.
