Yuelu Mountain National Scenic Area
Yuelu Mountain, a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve and National AAAAA Tourist Attraction, is a cultural and natural landmark in Changsha, Hunan Province. Rising 300 meters above the Xiangjiang River, it blends lush forests, ancient temples, and historic sites like the 1,000-year-old Yuelu Academy. Revered as the “Cradle of Huxiang Culture,” it has inspired scholars, poets, and revolutionaries for centuries, including Mao Zedong, who composed his poem Changsha here in 1925. Covering 36 square kilometers, the mountain offers 300-plus species of trees, 23 Buddhist and Taoist temples, and panoramic views of Changsha’s skyline.
