West Lake is one of the first batch of national key scenic spots in mainland China and one of the top ten scenic spots in China. It is famous for its beautiful lakes and mountains and numerous scenic spots and monuments, and is regarded as "Paradise on Earth". The West Lake scenic area covers a total area of 49 square kilometers, of which the lake area is 6.38 square kilometers and the length of the lake shoreline is about 15 kilometers. West Lake is famous for its basic pattern of "one mountain, two towers, three islands, three embankments and five lakes", of which one mountain refers to Gushan Mountain, two towers are Leifeng Pagoda and Baochuan Pagoda across the lake, the three islands are Xiao Yingzhou, Huxinting and Ruan Gongdun, the three embankments are Bai Causeway, Su Causeway and Yang Gong Causeway, and the five lakes are Outer West Lake, Xili Lake, Beili Lake, Xiaonan Lake and Yuehu Lake.
