Tiananmen Square, located in the center of Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, at the southern end of the Forbidden City, is not only the main gate of the imperial city of Beijing in the Ming and Qing dynasties, but also one of the major symbols of the founding of the new China.

Tiananmen Gate was built in the Ming Dynasty, initially named "Chengtianmen", and was the place for the emperor to give orders and hold major celebrations. 

Located in front of Tiananmen Square, it is one of the largest city squares in China, measuring 880 meters from north to south and 500 meters from east to west, with an area of 440,000 square meters. Inside the square stand the Monument to the People's Heroes, Chairman Mao's Memorial Hall and other important buildings, and it is a place for grand gatherings and national celebrations.

As one of the symbols of the new China, Tiananmen Square has witnessed countless significant historical moments. on October 1, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China from the Tiananmen Square Citadel, turning a new page in China's history.

Opening time: 5:30 AM-18:00 PM. A solemn flag-raising ceremony is held every morning, depending on the time of sunrise.
