Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

The Chengdu Research Base for Giant Panda Breeding is not only a world-renowned base for the relocation and protection of giant pandas, a scientific research and breeding base, but also a public education base and an educational tourism base. 

Since the establishment of the Open Laboratory in 1997, the base has made remarkable achievements in the protection of giant pandas and other endemic and endangered wildlife in China. By the end of 2020, the giant panda population had reached 215, which is the largest captive giant panda breeding population in the world.
