Mogao Caves

Nestled amidst the arid sands of the Gobi Desert, the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang stand as a magnificent testament to ancient artistry and spirituality. This sprawling complex, also known as the Thousand Buddha Caves, features over 700 caves adorned with intricate murals and statues that date back to the 4th century. Each cave, meticulously carved into the cliffside, offers a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Buddhist iconography and the Silk Road’s cultural exchanges.
