The Great Wall

The Great Wall, an ancient Chinese military fortification, is a tall, strong and continuous wall used to limit the movement of enemy horsemen. As a famous cultural heritage of China and the world, the Great Wall is not only the crystallization of the wisdom and courage of the ancient Chinese working people, but also a symbol of the long history and splendid culture of the Chinese nation.

The reason why the Great Wall has survived to this day is inseparable from its unique construction features. The Great Wall was constructed using various types of building materials, such as brick, stone, wood and loess, with stone being one of the most important building materials. The wall is usually wider at the bottom than at the top, which increases the stability of the wall. The outer layer of the wall is shaped like a trapezoid with one side slightly inclined to better resist external impacts. In addition, the Great Wall has a parapet, making it difficult for incoming enemies to climb over. The Great Wall was constructed according to the topography and terrain, winding over steep ridges, a design that not only strengthens the defense capability, but also gives the Wall a unique aesthetic appeal.

There are several famous scenic spots on the Great Wall, such as Badaling Great Wall, Simatai Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall, Juyongguan Great Wall and Shanhaiguan Great Wall. Badaling Great Wall is the earliest section opened to tourists and is famous for its majestic landscape and deep cultural and historical connotations.
