The Dujiangyan water conservancy project

The Dujiangyan water conservancy project is located on the Min River in the western part of the Chengdu Plain. It was built in 256 B.C. by Li Bing, the governor of Shu County of the Qin Dynasty, and his son, and is the world's oldest and only surviving grand water conservancy project featuring water diversion without a dam.
The Dujiangyan water conservancy project scientifically solved the problems of automatic diversion of river water, automatic sand removal, and control of water intake flow, eliminating flooding and making the western Sichuan plain the "Land of Heaven". This project is not only an outstanding representative of China's ancient water conservancy engineering technology, but also a treasure of the world's water conservancy culture, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
