Itinerary Designer——Henry

I'm Henry, an itinerary designer. I work entirely behind the scenes. You won't see me holding a sign at the airport or shaking your hand. I'm just the guy staring at maps, transit timetables, and weather charts on a glowing screen. And I will tell you right now, I am incredibly stubborn.

A few years ago, a client sent me a frantic request for Xinjiang: a seven-day trip covering Urumqi, Turpan, Kashgar, and a dozen remote spots in between. They wanted to check every box. I flatly refused.

"We can't do this," I wrote back. "This isn't a vacation; it's a marathon." They pushed back, insisting they could handle the driving. I didn't budge. I firmly told them that if they followed their plan, they would spend forty hours cramped in a vehicle, seeing nothing but highway. They would be exhausted and miserable. Reluctantly, they let me redesign it. I sliced the itinerary in half. I insisted on multi-night stays and built in long, empty afternoons just to rest.

Weeks later, I received a photo. They were sitting quietly by a lake in the Pamir Mountains, not a tourist in sight, just the wind and the water. They thanked me for being so bullheaded.

That is my philosophy. True expertise isn't about giving people what they ask for; it's about having the stubbornness to give them what they actually need. A good route requires breathing room. I'll fight for your rest, even if it means telling you no.
