1. First acquaintance with the city wall: magnificent and spectacular ancient city scenery

As soon as you walk into the Xi'an city wall, the first thing that catches your eye is the magnificent and spectacular ancient city scenery. The city wall rises high into the clouds, with mottled bricks and tiles, like an old man who has gone through vicissitudes, quietly telling stories of the past. I chose to enter through the South Gate (Yongning Gate), which is the main entrance of the Xi'an city wall and also the best preserved section.

Standing on the city wall, looking around, the entire Xi'an city can be seen in full view. The buildings inside the ancient city are arranged in a staggered manner, forming a sharp contrast with the modern city outside the city walls, which makes people marvel at the changes in history and the ruthlessness of time.

2. Strolling through the city walls: Experience the slow life of the ancient city

The Xi'an City Wall is not only a defensive fortification, but also a link connecting ancient and modern times. I chose to rent a bicycle and stroll along the city wall. Riding on the city wall, feeling the gentle breeze brushing against my face, with the sound of wheels rubbing against bricks in my ears, but my heart was unusually peaceful.

Along the way, I saw many interesting attractions and sculptures, which either showcased the historical style of the ancient city or interpreted the profound cultural heritage of Xi'an. Every time I pass by a city gate, I stop to carefully observe and feel the unique charm of the ancient city.

3. Cultural Exploration: Stories Behind the City Wall

The Xi'an City Wall is not just a wall, it is also a living historical book. During the stroll, I gained a deep understanding of the construction history, defensive functions, and important role of city walls in ancient warfare. Originally, this city wall witnessed countless storms and vicissitudes, guarding the ancient city of Xi'an from foreign invasion.

In addition, I also visited some cultural exhibitions and performances within the city walls, such as the city wall light show and ancient music performances. These activities not only allowed me to experience the charm of Xi'an culture more intuitively, but also gave me a deeper understanding of the history of this city.

4. Free travel tips: How to better explore the city walls

For tourists who want to travel independently, the Xi'an City Wall is undoubtedly an excellent choice. I suggest everyone choose to play in the morning or evening when there are fewer people, which can better appreciate the beautiful scenery of the city wall. At the same time, remember to wear comfortable shoes, because although the city wall is flat, it still requires a certain amount of physical strength to walk down the entire journey.

In addition, if you are interested in history, you may want to learn some knowledge and stories about the city walls in advance, so that the process of playing will be more interesting and meaningful.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
