A Local’s Year-Round Guide to the Beijing's Best

This article is compiled by an indigenous person and provides a detailed introduction to the gameplay of Beijing throughout the year. From admiring flowers in spring to escaping the heat in summer, from admiring red leaves in autumn to savoring the New Year's flavor in winter, there is always enough fun in Beijing tourism.

1. Spring, it's the perfect time to enjoy flowers and go for an outing

Spring is the gentlest season in Beijing. At this time, the red walls and green tiles of the forbidden city complement the blooming flowers in the imperial garden, making it an excellent place to take photos and check in. Don't forget to go to The Summer Palace, where the sparkling waves on Kunming Lake and the peach blossom forest on the west bank complement each other. Walking among them, it feels like being in a moving picture. There is also Beihai Park, where Qionghua Island under the White Pagoda is full of spring. Rent a small boat to sail on the lake and feel the comfort of the spring breeze brushing your face. Beijing tourism should be played like this in spring!

2. Summer, seek a cool corner of Beijing

In summer, although Beijing is hot, there are also many good places to escape the heat. Under the long corridor of the Summer Palace, the cool breeze blows gently, making it a great place to escape the heat and cool off. Or go to Shichahai, rent a bicycle, ride along the lake, and feel the gentle breeze on the surface of the lake. In the evening, you can also go to NanluoguXiang, stroll through small shops, taste snacks, and experience Beijing's nightlife. Beijing culture is even more vivid on summer nights.

3. Autumn, enjoying the golden and red leaves on the ground

Autumn is the most beautiful season in Beijing. The red leaves of Xiangshan are in full swing, making it the best place to enjoy autumn. Ascending Xianglu Peak, overlooking the entire city of Beijing, the golden and fiery colors intertwine, creating a breathtaking sight. There is also the Diaoyutai Ginkgo Avenue, with golden ginkgo leaves covering the road, as if entering a golden fairy tale world. The local culture of Beijing is even more vibrant in the colors of autumn.

4. Winter, silver wrapped in plain food for the New Year's flavor

In winter, the snow scenery in Beijing has a unique flavor. The snow scenery of The Forbidden City is even more beautiful, with red walls and white snow, like a fairyland. You can also go to the Summer Palace to see Kunming Lake freeze and experience the fun of ice skating. During the Chinese New Year, don't forget to go to the temple fair, taste authentic Beijing snacks, and feel the strong New Year flavor. Suggestions for visiting Beijing: This is the way to enjoy the unique charm of the capital city in winter.

5. Additional detailed introduction of the scenic spot:

The Forbidden City: Whether it's spring, summer, autumn, or winter, the Forbidden City is a must visit destination for tourists in Beijing. The flowers in spring, the greenery in summer, the leaves in autumn, and the snow in winter all complement the architecture of the Forbidden City.

Summer Palace: As a royal garden, the Summer Palace has scenery throughout the four seasons. The long corridor in summer, Kunming Lake in autumn, and the ice rink in winter are all experiences that cannot be missed.

Nanluoguxiang: This alley full of old Beijing style is bustling all year round. Summer snacks and winter temple fairs are both great places to taste Beijing culture.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
