About:Hangzhou

Please provide me with information on vegetarian restaurants near Hangzhou's West Lake.

My Indian parents are joining me in Hangzhou. They eat vegetarian only. Not vegan, egg is okay. Can we actually eat near the lake or temples without trekking to some hidden restaurant?

Lingyin Temple has a well-known vegetarian restaurant right inside the complex. It serves Buddhist-style vegetarian dishes, including noodle soups and tofu prepared in traditional ways. Near the lake, Louwailou offers vegetarian versions of classic Hangzhou dishes. Your guide can pre-order so there's no negotiation at the table.

The temple restaurant saved us. My parents didn't even ask, just sat down and ate everything. The noodles are simple but flavourful. My mum still talks about the tofu skin rolls. No garlic, no onion, proper Buddhist style. We didn't have to explain a single thing.
