Dujiangyan Irrigation Project+Qingcheng Mountain one-day rampage strategy

Dual heritage of water conservancy engineering and famous Taoist mountains, spanning thousands of years of landscape wisdom

At 7 a.m., take the high-speed railway from Xipu Station in Chengdu, and arrive at Lidui Park Station in Dujiangyan Irrigation Project 30 minutes later. At the moment of departure, the humid Minjiang River wind came with a sense of history - today's goal: to measure the miracle of water control of Dujiangyan Irrigation Project Water Conservancy Project with both feet, and to find the true meaning of Taoism in the winding paths of Qingcheng Mountain.

1. Dujiangyan Irrigation Project: Decoding Millennium Water Control Wisdom

Tour route: Lidui Park (entrance) → Qinyan Tower (panoramic view) → Erwang Temple (in memory of Li Bing and his son) → Anlan Suoqiao (one of the five ancient bridges) → Yuzui (core of the water diversion project) → Feisha Weir (flood discharge and sand discharge) → Baopingkou (water diversion throat) → Lidui Park (exit)

Suggested duration: 3 hours

Fish Mouth Dividing Embankment: Shaped like a giant fish lying horizontally in the center of the river, the outer river releases water and the inner river irrigates. The ancient wisdom of "dividing water into four and six" is astonishing.

Anlan Cable Bridge: Under the swaying cable bridge, the Minjiang River surges, with towering ancient trees on both sides, making it an excellent filming location for capturing ancient style films.

Erwang Temple: climb to the top and overlook the panorama of Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, where incense is wreathed, and the statues of Li Bing and his son silently guard the land.

Admission: 80 yuan (including the front hill of Qingcheng Mountain, valid within two days)

Surrounding cuisine: You Tu Tou from the Ancient City of Guan County (spicy/five spice options, 12 yuan/piece), Zhang Laozao near Nanqiao (brown sugar rice cake with Laozao, 10 yuan per person).

2.Qingcheng Mountain: Two Ways to Open Taoist Fairyland

Transportation: Take a taxi in Dujiangyan Irrigation Project Scenic Area to Qingcheng Mountain Front (about 40 yuan), or take No. 101 bus (30 minutes direct).

Plan A: Journey to Qianshan Culture (the birthplace of Taoism)

Route: Jianfu Palace → Yuecheng Lake (optional 5 yuan boat ride) → Shangqing Palace → Laojun Pavilion (highest peak) → Tianshi Cave → Wudong Tian → Natural Painting → Mountain Gate

Suggested duration: 4 hours

Tian Shi Cave: The practice site of Zhang Daoling, the founder of Taoism. Inside the cave, there are statues of the Three Pure Ones of Taoism, and incense has been burning for thousands of years.

Laojun Pavilion: Climbing to the top and overlooking the panoramic view of Qingcheng, the mountains gather like clusters, shrouded in clouds and mist, as if in a fairyland.

Plan B: Hiking Tour in the Back Mountain (Paradise for Nature Enthusiasts)

Route: Tai'an Ancient Town → Wulonggou → Youyi Village → Cuiying Lake (2 yuan by boat) → Shuilian Cave → Baiyun Temple → Feiquangou → Tai'an Ancient Town (Circle Line)

Suggested duration: 6-7 hours

Wulonggou Waterfall Group: The stream flows through the rocks, forming multi-level waterfalls, and the coolness index in summer is explosive.

Baiyun Temple: On the high point of the back mountain, the ancient temple bell echoes through the valley, and the exhaustion of hiking instantly dissipates.

Admission: 80 yuan for the front mountain and 20 yuan for the back mountain (half price for student tickets)

Food supply: Liang Chicken from Tai'an Ancient Town in the back mountain (salt baked chicken 130 yuan/2 person meal), Qingcheng Jia at the foot of Qianshan Mountain (old cured meat+white fruit stewed chicken, 98 yuan per person).

3. Walking Tips: Make the Journey Smoother

Wearing: Non slip sports shoes+breathable quick drying clothes (due to high humidity in the mountains behind Qingcheng, some sections of the road are slippery).

Pit Shelter: There are often "wild guides" in the front of Qingcheng Mountain to attract tourists. It is recommended to download electronic guides or rent scenic area interpreters in advance.

Time management: When entering the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project Scenic Area before 8:30, you can avoid the tour group. It is recommended to visit the front mountain of Qingcheng Mountain in the morning and leave enough time in the afternoon in the back mountain.

4. Double Heritage Soul Strike

Dujiangyan Irrigation Project: Standing beside the fish mouth, imagine how Li Bing and his son "took advantage of the situation" to tame the Minjiang River 2200 years ago. This wisdom of symbiosis with heaven and earth is still nourishing the Chengdu Plain.

Qingcheng Mountain: In front of the Tianshi Cave, the sun shines through the branches and leaves of ancient trees, and the Taoist philosophy of "quiet inaction" is quietly absorbed in the song of birds and the pines.

On this day, from the "human miracle" of Dujiangyan Irrigation Project to the "heavenly palace" of Qingcheng Mountain, it seems that we have talked with the ancients for thousands of years. When the dusk turns red the Minjiang River, bringing back the fragrance of plants and trees and the wisdom of Taoism, we realize that the journey of "worshiping the water and asking questions" is actually the ultimate meditation about human and nature.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
