As a foreign traveler who loves adventure and exploration, I have always heard that Zhangjiajie in China is full of wonders and surprises. This time, I finally embarked on a journey to Zhangjiajie from Shanghai. Unexpectedly, Zhangjiajie truly allowed me to experience the wonderful feeling of entering the water from above, completely beyond my imagination!
First Arrival in Zhangjiajie: Unveiling the Mysterious Veil
When I first entered Zhangjiajie, my first impression of the city was full of vitality and mystery. The small shops on the street were filled with local Handicrafts, and the air was filled with a unique aroma of delicious food. I stayed at a budget hotel in the city, with affordable prices and comfortable environment, to recharge for the upcoming adventure.
Heavenly Realm: The Enchanted Peak Forest of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Entering Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (ticket price: 228 yuan in peak season, 118 yuan in off-season), it feels like entering a dreamlike peak forest fairyland, which is also one of the most representative attractions of "Zhangjiajie". Riding the Hundred Dragon Sky Ladder (one-way cost 72 yuan), it only takes 66 seconds to reach the top of the mountain from the foot of the mountain. The thrill of instantly rising makes my heart beat faster. After reaching the mountaintop, the scenery in front of me was suffocating.
In the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, huge quartz sandstone peak forests stretch straight into the sky, with clouds and mist swirling around the peaks, like a dream. Mount Hallelujah, a mountain famous worldwide for "Avatar," is even more spectacular in reality than in movies. Standing on the observation deck, the distant peaks and forests undulate like a huge ink painting. Here, I spent a whole day strolling along the trail, and with each step, I could see different scenery. Occasionally, wild macaques can be seen jumping and playing among the peaks, adding a touch of liveliness to this fairyland.
Tianmen Mountain: A thrilling high-altitude experience
Tianmen Mountain also gave me the ultimate experience of "going to heaven" (ticket price: 278 yuan in peak season, 232 yuan in off-season). Take the world's longest high-altitude passenger cableway up the mountain, which takes about 28 minutes one-way (the cableway ticket is included in the ticket). As the cable car slowly rises, the scenery under my feet gradually transitions from the city to dense forests, and then to steep mountain peaks. The view becomes wider and wider, and my heart beats faster involuntarily.
Upon reaching the mountaintop, the first thing that catches the eye is the stunning Tianmen Cave. This huge cave hangs high in the mountains, as if it were a passage to another world. To reach Tianmen Cave, you need to walk 999 steps. Although the process is a bit difficult, the scenery along the way makes everything worthwhile. Passing through Tianmen Cave, the mountain wind howled past, bringing a ethereal and awe inspiring feeling.
There is also the exciting glass walkway (shoe covers cost 5 yuan). Walking on it, you can see the abyss. The transparent glass is frightening, but once you overcome the fear, you can enjoy the unique and spectacular scenery. At Tianmen Mountain, the whole day is filled with thrills and surprises, and every scenery is unforgettable.
The joy of entering the water: the tranquility and agility of Baofeng Lake
Baofeng Lake (ticket price: 96 yuan) allowed me to experience the beauty of Zhangjiajie's "entering the water". Entering the scenic area feels like entering a paradise on earth. Take a boat ride (ticket 72 yuan) and slowly move forward on the clear lake surface, surrounded by towering peaks reflected in the water, with mountains and waters intertwined, beautiful and breathtaking.
During the voyage, the tour guide will introduce various unique mountain peak shapes, some resembling camels, some resembling fairies, with lifelike images. The lake water is clear to the bottom, and you can see fish swimming freely in the water. There are waterfalls cascading down by the lake, splashing layers of water and making pleasant sounds. Playing at Baofeng Lake, time seemed to slow down, and both body and mind were greatly relaxed. It took about half a day to enjoy this tranquility and beauty here.
Food Exploration: A Unique Taste Taste Journey in Zhangjiajie
During my visit to Zhangjiajie, the local cuisine also left a deep impression on me. San Xia Guo is a must try specialty dish that involves stewing ingredients such as preserved meat, pork belly, and beef tripe together. It has a rich flavor and a strong aroma, with an average consumption of about 50-80 yuan per person. There is also rock ear stewed chicken. Rock ear, a precious ingredient that grows on steep cliffs, when stewed with chicken, makes the soup delicious and the chicken tender, leaving me with an endless aftertaste. You can taste these authentic delicacies in the restaurants around the scenic area, adding a rich taste experience to my trip to Zhangjiajie.
This trip from Shanghai to Zhangjiajie has truly realized my dream of going to heaven and entering the water. Whether it's the towering peaks or the clear and dynamic lakes, they all make me feel the magic and charm of nature. Zhangjiajie is definitely an excellent destination worth exploring for travelers from all over the world.
